My journey to birth work
I owe much of my journey into birth work to the incredible women who came before me, to my mother and grandmothers who have shaped my path with their strength, love, resilience, and quiet wisdom, and to my besties and sister-in-law who made me the “cool Auntie” when I thought I only had dog mom potential. Witnessing these amazing women on their individual journeys inspires me daily and reminds me of all that we are capable of, mind, body, and spirit.
So many pieces of my life had to fall apart and come together to lead me to Acadiana, my home for the last 3 years and a place that has nurtured a deep appreciation for the very roots that inspired Sacred Roots. This beautiful corner of Louisiana has nurtured a deep appreciation for the very roots that inspired Sacred Roots. It has taught me to slow down and savor the patience required to grow flowers, fruit, herbs…and admittedly a few more wrinkles and gray hairs. It has shown me the value of community and the steady peace that comes from connecting to nature and its many seasons. Most of all, it has given me the space to turn inward and discover where my gifts could be of real service.
Doula care, for me, is not just a profession. It’s a calling and a roadmap back to my roots. It’s the embodiment of something ancient, something encoded in us: women supporting women, honoring the natural rhythms of life, trusting in each other’s decisions, and remembering what it means to be held through the journey of becoming all that we aspire to be.
