My journey to birth work

I owe much of my journey into birth work to the incredible women who came before me, to my mother and grandmothers who have shaped my path with their strength, love, resilience, and quiet wisdom, and to my besties and sister-in-law who made me the “cool Auntie” when I thought I only had dog mom potential. Witnessing these amazing women on their individual journeys inspires me daily and reminds me of all that we are capable of, mind, body, and spirit.

So many pieces of my life had to fall apart and come together to lead me to Acadiana, my home for the last 3 years and a place that has nurtured a deep appreciation for the very roots that inspired Sacred Roots. This beautiful corner of Louisiana has taught me to slow down, and to appreciate the patience it takes to grow flowers, fruit, herbs, wrinkles, and a couple more gray hairs. It has shown me the value of community and a steady peace that comes from being connected to nature and life’s many seasons. Most importantly, it has given me the time and space to look inward and discover where my gifts could truly serve.

Doula care, for me, is not just a profession. It’s a calling and a roadmap back to my roots. It’s the embodiment of something ancient, something encoded in us: women supporting women, honoring the rhythms of life, trusting in each other’s decisions, and remembering what it means to be held through the journey of becoming all that we aspire to be.
